Why a bee. Why zero. Why we start with imagination instead of curriculum. This is the philosophy underneath everything we build — and the story of how it came to be.

What we believe

Every child already has an imagination. Nobody has to install it, unlock it, or teach it from scratch — it's there from the beginning, restless and complete. What most children don't have is the bridge from that imagination to something real: the thinking to shape a vague idea into a solvable problem, the technology to give that idea a form, and the hands-on habit of building, failing, and building again until the idea holds up in the real world.

Bee Innovations exists to build that bridge. We don't teach STEM as a subject to be memorized and tested. We teach it as a set of tools a child picks up so that the thing they already imagine stops being a thought and starts being a thing they can hold, show, and improve.

Why a bee

A single bee visiting a single flower doesn't change very much on its own. But a bee doesn't work alone — it works inside a colony, moving with purpose, and the colony's ordinary, repeated work quietly pollinates entire ecosystems into bloom. No individual bee is remarkable. What they build together is.

That's the same principle we design curriculum around. One lesson on its own has almost no value — a child who learns to wire a single sensor once and never again hasn't gained much. But skill placed next to skill, practiced consistently, year after year, compounds the way a colony's small, individual efforts compound into something far larger than any one contribution. Nothing here works in isolation. Everything is designed to build on what came before it, so that by the time a child reaches the top of the ladder, they're not just holding a stack of disconnected facts — they're holding the compounding result of everything they built along the way.

Why zero

Zero, on its own, has no value. It's nothing. But stand it next to a 1, and that 1 becomes a 10. Stand it next to a 100, and that 100 becomes a 1000. The zero didn't create that value out of thin air — the 1 and the 100 were always worth something on their own. What the zero did was multiply it.

That's the role we've chosen for ourselves. Every child who walks through our door already carries value — their own imagination, their own curiosity, their own way of seeing a problem — long before we ever meet them. We didn't put that there, and we're not claiming to. What we do is stand beside it. We are the zero: the thing that, placed next to what a child already has, turns it into ten times more than it would have been on its own. Our job was never to hand a child their imagination. It's to multiply it.

How we teach

Every programme we build rests on three things working together, never in isolation:

Thinking — the discipline of turning a vague want into a well-framed problem: asking better questions before reaching for an answer.

Technology — the actual tools of the era a child is growing up in, from electronics and code to robotics and design software, introduced at a level that meets them where they are, not where a syllabus assumes they should be.

Doing — the willingness to build something with your hands, watch it fail, and build it again. This is the part no worksheet can substitute for, and it's the part most classrooms have the least time for. We make time for it.

Put together, these three don't just produce a child who knows things. They produce a child who can create what they imagine — which was the point all along.

Where we're headed

We're starting with STEM curriculum and lab infrastructure for schools, because that's where the need is most visible and most urgent right now. But the philosophy underneath Bee Innovations was never really about STEM specifically — it's about giving a child the process of turning an idea into a reality, a process that doesn't stop being useful the moment a child closes a robotics kit. As we grow, that same philosophy is built to carry us into whatever comes next, because the need it answers — imagination without a bridge to reality — doesn't belong to one subject. It belongs to every child we haven't reached yet.

Our story

Bee Innovations was founded by Devendhar Bachhu, who came to education through engineering, not away from it.

After working as a design engineer in concrete 3D printing, he moved into robotics mentoring at Atal Tinkering Labs, then into curriculum and program management at Creya Learning, before becoming a Makerspace facilitator and IB MYP Design teacher.

Bee Innovations grew out of a simple observation from that path: schools weren't short on curious kids — they were short on the bridge between a child's curiosity and something they could actually build.
